Light and Shade A work written for the 2009 BTS South event (originally entitled Crown Capers). A slow and expectant introduction leads to an up tempo jazz like section. After a more relaxed and melodic middle passage the jazz mood returns, slowing to a reflective conclusion. The light sections can either be improvised or the written solos performed. Grade 6+ 4 minutes approx.
Song and Dance A two movement original work for trombone quartet. Song is a plaintive folk song with a striking carillon section and Dance is an upbeat, driving number with lots of energy and punch.

Carolan’s Canon An original work, for trombone quartet, adapted from a Carolan folk tune which becomes a quirky canon, derived from its opening bars. An tuneful beginning leads to an uplifting conclusion.

Festival Suite was written for the British Trombone Society Wessex Area.
Festival Suite is a collection of challenging and fun to play movements for trombone quartet (which would work equally well with bassoon or cello). Two energetic dances surround a haunting folk tune and cheeky waltz.
